recycle bin not working

Items I have deleted or dragged and dropped onto the
recycle bin icon do not appear in the recycle bin when I
open it. As far as I can tell they have been permanently
deleted.

The check box in the Recycle Bin Properties dialog box
that allows you to bypass the bin is NOT checked.

Mike,

Have you checked to be sure that you have enough space
allocated for the recycle bin?

It can be found in recycle bin properties under the check
box for bypassing the recycle bin.

Another cause would be if you are deleting them over a
network (eg if I deleted something from my shared docs
called like \\jonathan\shareddoce it wouldn't go to the
recycle bin.).

Yes, there's plenty of space allocated - the default
setting of 10% of drive space. Also, this is not
happening on a network. Items saved on my own desktop
and dragged to the recycle bin aren't showing up.

Thanks for the suggestions. Any other ideas about where
I could go to find a solution. Nothing shows up in the
Microsoft Knowledgebase

I'm having exactly the same problem that Mike was having and cannot find a solution :( Anyone have any ideas?
