Recycle Bin not keeping settings

I have Recycle Bin set up with different settings for my various drives.
But the setting "do not move files to Recycle Bin" frequently disappears
for the drives I do not want deleted files to go to the Recycle bin. Is
there anyway to prevent this from happening, which is a real nuisance
since it makes me run low on space on such drives before I realize what
happened.

Someone whose post disappeared suggested I delete all Recycled
directories on my machine. I tried that, but again, for a reason I
cannot begin to imagine, the settings for the drives I do not want to
use the recycle bin were again cancelled. In other words, after a while,
the settings, set independantly for each drive, disappear. Am I really
the only one experiencing this (and this is not limited to one specific
machine, all machines I use behave similarly).
