Recycle Bin error message...

Files go to the Recycle Bin with no problem but when I try to empty it
there's a lengthy pause and the following error message is displayed:

'Cannot delete desktop: data error (cyclic redundancy check)'

Accept this and after another wait the bin empties.. any ideas anyone?

open a dos prompt then do chkdsk DRIVE: /f

if prompted to force unmount select no
if prompted to scan next reboot select yet
reboot your computer
let the scan do the work
should fix any crc errors
try empty bin again
