Recycle Bin disappears from desktop

Lost my desktop link to recyle bin, how do I get it back?
Creating a shortcut does not work the same.

Right click on the desktop, choose Personalize. In the Control Panel window
that appears, look at the left panel at Tasks (top of the panel) and click
on Change Desktop Icons (first choice). Put the checkmark back in the
Recycle Bin and close out. The RB will reappear.

Many of us have been complaining about having Delete on the Recycle Bin
context menu because in this one case it sounds too much like "taking out
the trash" and have asked MS not to put it there. Please use the Feedback
icon to voice your feelings.

I know, but one of the experts in a shell chat commented that even some
folks at MS had groused about it. The reason given by the shell team was
that some people like to have a completely blank desktop. My reply was that
the checkbox was sufficient since those folks would only need to remove the
RB once anyway.

I am one of those who like an empty desktop, and I really appreciate having
that as an option in the context menu (sent feedback about it, actually),
but MSFT loves redundancy, along with redundancy, and always seems to have
several different ways to do something. The various methods of invoking the
taskmanager is a prime example. So they want three different ways to hide
the RB; modus operendi.

do know the difference.

Do you know the difference from your head and your rear end? Just expressing
my feelings.

You must understand young man, those types of remarks are what gives many
message forums bad names. To assume you are smarter than others, shows your
immaturity. It would be wise to keep those comments to yourself, that way you
do not make a fool of yourself.

Dircted at you? No. If my comment was to be directed at you, I would have
responded to your post.

So there is no further confusion, this post is directed at you.

As my comment was in response to Colin's post, perhaps my comment was
directed at him?

Perhaps my comment was a retrospective of, or a cumulative reaction to the
plethora of posters who have assaulted this newsgroup with a myriad of
inanities, including, but not limited to, posting the same question in
multiples, having the answer to their question posted (in multiples), and not
having either the ability or the intelligence to read or implement the
response? Or, perhaps my comment was an indication that there seems to be a
general malaise permeating the posters in this newsgroup which apparently
prevents them from using the "search" function?

There are many, plausible possibilities.

To recap. no, not directed at you at all; more of a general editorial on the
newsgroup in from my, humble perspective.

My head from my rear-end? I must admit that biology was always my weakest
subject during my studies. While the two items look remarkably similar, I am
well versed in the difference between not only the location of each, but
their respective functions a well. Furthermore, I can assure you that, with
the exception of a college hazing incident gone horribly wrong, the two have
never met. And just an observation, banal though it may be, we have now both
expressed our feelings. Mine was regarding the ability of understanding the
usage of the Windows Vista operating system, which I believe is apropos to
the newsgroup in which I posted. Yours may have been more appropriately sent
to a medical bulliten board.

In conclusion, I wish you all the best. I wish you success in testing this
beta software. And I wish that you continue to contribute to the Windows
Vista newsgroup so that we all may benefit from your experiences.

Just to clear the air, I did read all the posts, I did do a search. The
recyle bin disappeared after doing an update. Had I known, or been able to
find an answer. I would not have posted here.

I came to this forum seeking an an answer, not criticism. If I took your
post wrong, then I apologize. Even so, to make comments that are critical or
demeaning towards those seeking help, does this forum a disservice. I may not
have the gift of gab as you, but I do know how to conduct myself in a message
forum.

I respect your point of view of your recent reply, as I agree with many of
your statements. I do not agree with your derogatory remarks, they do not
have a place here. Instead of flaming someone, why not direct them to a
thread that might be helpful. If you are a moderater of this forum, then God
help us all. I would hope the Microsoft people will not let flaming permeate
this forum. as it has other MS forums.

I have said my piece and will say no more. If I have another question, there
are other forums I belong to, where posters do not get flamed, as it is not
tolerated.
