Hi,
I am running Win XP SP2 and have all the latest updates. I am also rurring
Norton Internet Security 2006 and have no malware. My problem is thast I
have a wav file that I have used in the past for the Recycle Bin Empty sound.
This sound is being reset to the default sound of XP Recycle BIn. I have
used this same sound on other events inside my Windows and there is NO
problem. It is only with the Recycle Bin that I am experiencing the problem.
This sound is RESET just as soon as I click the APPLY and the OK button in
the sound panel inside the Control Panel.

I have run SPybot Search & Destoy as well as Adaware SE personal looking for
any signs of malware, but none are found...

Can anyone help with a suggestion?

Rename your wav file to what the MS wav file name is, and replace the
MS file with it. Then it will always play.

BTW you'll find the file here:
WINDOWS\Media\Windows XP Recycle.wav

Thanks so much. That works very well for me.... I would still like to know
why I cannot use the one I had named since I can use the same file in other
instances in the sound effects...

Stuff happens, with your post I open'd my sounds and they loaded no
sound as my profile, I have to check it back to my saved profile
(every time I open it now)
