Recreate show desktop icon on Quick Launch Toolbar

The entire Show Desktop.scf disappeared. I found the MS
article 190355 and followed the instructions, but did not
work. Any other suggestions? Can I just copy the file to
a floppy from another XP user, and paste it in my
system. The Quick Launch folder in which I was to place
the short cut doesn't even appear in Windows\System32
\config\systemprofile\applicationdata\microsot\internet
explorer\quick launch.

That KB seems wrong. Only the instructions for 98 seem right (and I suspect that this is only correct if multiple users is turned off). And if you modify the 98 instructions and apply to XP then that will work.

The quicklaunch folder on both 2000 and XP is
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your User Name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Put the shortcut here.

However you can drag the shortcut straight onto the QL bar which is how one should do it.

In short that KB is wrong, misleading, and where it is right it omits preciseness.
