If by recovery, you mean a Clean Install of Windows XP, that depends.
All computer manufacturers are required to provide a method of returning the
computer to the original state.
Some use CDs, others do not.
Check your manual and/or contact the computer manufacturer for details.
Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select "Last known good configuration" at the menu.
If that fails, reboot tapping F8 again.
This time select "Safe Mode"
Then System Restore to date/time before this started:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
