recovery disc for windows xp professional

How can I obtain a recovery disc for my computer... the person that built my
system did not give me one so I" hoping that it is in a file some where. But
how do I find it. My system has been down for a while and things aren't
working too well, even games won't play. Keeps saying that there is a
GRAPHICS HARDWARE PROBLEM. I'm really desperate for some good advice.

Is your copy of Windows genuine?

If you did not receive a Windows XP CD from the person
who built your PC and installed Windows XP, then you do
not have a valid license to use Windows XP. What you'll
need to do is purchase a "Full Version" of Windows XP
and proceed with a "Repair Install". Also, visit the support
web site of the manufacturer of your video adapter to obtain
the latest Windows XP drivers.

My apologies I'm not very good with computers... but how do I find out the
info on my video adapter. Can I also obtain the xp drivers and install them
now even without a valid copy of windows. Where do I purchase a FULL VERSION
of windows?

Tutn-off your computer and unplug it from the wall outlet.

Open the computer case and read the manufacturer's name on the
chipset or the circuit board of the video card or motherboard.
Once you determine the manufacturer, visit their web site and
download the correct drivers.

Examples:

NVIDIA

Am I not able to obtain this info through system information through control
panel. How will I know which chipset is the right one, if I remove the
backing from the tower.
