recovery d-drive loss?

i can't start-up my computer due to an hal.dll corrupt
file so I want to recover my computer. if i recover and
and chose not to create d-drive, will that leave my files
in my d-drive alone? i have nothing important on my c-
drive but have all info on my d-drive. my c and d-drives
are partioned on my notebook.

i can't take the chance of losing the files in my d-
drive. anyone know

thanks,
shannon

Hi

Have you tried following link to MVP Kelly's web page for your hal.dll
problem?

"HAL - Hardware Abstraction Layer"

Shannon, if your Operating System ( WinXP ) is on the C: drive then yes,
D: drive is left alone.
