Recovery Console from XP CD

I have the retail XP Pro full version with SP1. I have not installed the
Recovery Console, but according to MS, I should be able to access it from
the CD if I boot from it. The setup screen I get does not have the normal 3
options I have seen on other systems. It has a setup screen with a bar at
the bottom that reads F6 for installing RAID etc. then it says F2 for Auto
recovery (or something like that) and if I don't select either one, it will
start loading the setup files (as though it was reinstalling.) But MS says
RC can be run from the CD on boot. I do not have the option to select R
when booting from the disk.

Any Ideas?
Thanks

You were on the right track. Just continue until you get a menu
that lets you either install WinXP or repair WinXP.

Thanks for responding.

Are you saying to let it load the setup files and it will take me to the
menu with the "R" option?

I don't recall 2000 doing this (but it's been awhile), I thought XP and 2000
were the same in this manner.

Thanks

Win2000 & WinXP behave indeed in the same manner: They
both load the setup files before giving you a choice about what
you wish to do.
