Recovery console- chkdsk

I've run chkdsk on two of my disks successfully but on the third it stops
having scanned 25%, even after leaving it scanning overnight.
Does this mean there is serious fault with the disk?
I'm running chkdsk as I regularly get blue screen message - Driver IRQL not
less or equal....... I've checked and there are no conflicts on any IRQs.

If nothing is running to access the disk, like a screen saver, etc, you are
probably seeing an indication of a failing hard drive. Usually you can find a
check utility made by the drive manufacturer on their web site.
