Recovering Outlook folders

My Outlook folders have suddenly disappeared, but I believe they are backed
up in a outlook.pst file on my disk. Is there a way to reinstall Outlook and
get these folders back into the Personal folders ? I'm using Office XP

Hi
Thank you very much for your response. Unfortunately, my problem seems to
be deeper -- perhaps I should have stated the total situation:
After I first noticed that there were no sub-folders below the "Personal
Folder" heading on the left side of the Outlook window, I clicked
"Send/Receive" and got a message :
The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition
persists.
I then tried clicking on the + sign beside the Personal Folders. I got the
message :
Unable to expand the folder. The set of folders could not be opened. The
server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition
persists.
But I am working on an independent home PC, not connected to any server.
In Outlook, when I go to File/Open/Outlook Data Files and try to open
Outlook.pst, I get the message :
Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try
again.
Since no other programs are open, repeated tries have not get any different
result.
Any further ideas to help me ?
Thanks in advance
Raghav
