Recovering Offline Files

I have a Windows XP laptop that was syncronising with the server. That
particular server died and a lot of data died with it.
I can not see the offline folders on the laptop now. There is a folder called
%systemroot%\CSC which is the default location for the offline files and
that particular folder has about 9GB of data in it but they are system files.

Is there any way to recover this data?
Any help would be much appreciated.

There most certainly is. Dont worry many of us tech have been through this
and it is not too hard to get out of as long as you dont run RAID... but you
do learn to backup

Nevertheless lets get on with things you will need to do a magnetic scan of
your server or/and your own computer. Use the program R-Studio 2.0 (in my
experence this is the best). You can download a trial to see if your files
can be recovered before buying it

Also if you think that the documents may still be on your computer and not
deleted you could try using ctrl + f and make sure you include system folders
and hidden folders

Hope that helps you

Thanks for your reply Quintin!

Unfortunately the server was running RAID. I have scanned the server with
software called NTPhoenix and recovered some data but most of it was corrupt.

The problem is that the laptop had offline folders set up and should have a
local copy of some of the data on it. I can't seem to find this data.
According to microsoft the default location for offline files is
%systemroot%\CSC. This folder on the laptop is 9GB in size which suggests to
me that there must be some data in it but i cannot use it as it is system
files. I am trying to find a way to convert these files into the documents
that they used to be or to somehow recover them.

Since this is a business, if the data is really important I'd contact a
professional data recovery firm and not mess around with it yourself. I
particularly like DriveSavers, but there are other companies like
Ontrack also.

These firms' services are not inexpensive, but only you can decide how
much your company's data is worth.
