Hi,
I need help.
I'm Having problems reconstructing my entire network to a test network.
For some reason after restoring the servers I'm not able to make the domain
controllers talk to each other.
My network is setup like this.

mainDomain.net ( DNS Server)
- Server 2, Server 3
sub.mainDomain.net
- subServer 2( Dns Server), subServer 3, subServer 4

I Started Restoring with the mainDomain.net, Then Server 2. but they would
not comunicate with each other. I was able to ping between servers but no
luck adding users.
Just for the heck of it I also restored sub.mainDomain.net and then
subServer 2. And nothing seemed to work. Although I was able to Ping the
mainDomain.net and Server 2 from sub.mainDomain.net and subServer

I Used Veritas Backup exec the fisrt time and followed their instructions
and I got the same problems.

I also tried using NTBackup i got the same results

I tried using Ntdsutil. I tried adjusting the registries and no luck so far.

Is there any order in which I need to restore the server.

I'm really worried now. I hope I never have to do this in real life.

Thanks for your help

When you ran Veritas Backup Exec, did you restore over a basic installation
of the server and if so, were you in the Safe mode for directory restore?
Also, were you using Veritas version 9.1 or better?

Yes, the instructions stated that I should do it in Directory service
restore mode.

The version I'm using is 9.1

I also ran the NTDSutil right after the restore was made to restore the
whole database.

You're using the same name and IP address space on the test network as on
the original? If not, expect the DNS to have some issues finding all the AD
objects...

Yes, I'm using the same IPS and names.
