Help me to help a friend please!
They have deleted everything in the DELETED folder of OUTLOOK. But now need some of the emails that have gone ......

Is there a freeware prog or easy way of recovering these deleted e-mails from the now empty deleted folder please?

Go to Tools, Recover Deleted Items. If they connect to a server and the
option is switched on items are kept for a while.

That only works for users connected to an Exchange Server. It won't help
with POP3 mail. Good suggestion though...

Why in the world would you store messages you want to keep in the Deleted
Items folder?

See if this helps:

I can choose friends Brian but not why they do certain things!! Think that
items were to be deleted and then deleted and then discovered that will be
needed . . . . . . maybe . .. .

This may or may not work...

However, as Brian mentioned, the deleted items folder is *not* where one
keeps items one "might" need later. It's the trash. If you put your
grandfather's pocket watch in the wastebin, the cleaning people will
probably just empty it. This might be a Valuable Learning Opportunity for
your friend.... and your friend should also be doing regular, verified good
backups of *all* his data.

yep - mentioned backups to him and - well - I can see some help is sorely
needed there this next few days to sort him out. He says that a "friend"
sorted out his problems last time and lost most of his work - and he STILL
hasn't found out how to backup his stuff yet . . . . . ho hum ....

In Outlook, there's nothing simpler. Close Outlook and then copy the PST to
another folder or, better yet, to another disk drive, if one's available.
All done. There are other files that can be copied for a more complete
restore experience (see the URLs below), but all the Outlook data itself
resides in the PST.
