Recovering data from a computer with a failed mobo

Hello,

I had an emachine (i know you get what you pay for but it did last for a few
years) and the power supply failed and took out the mother board with it. I
have written it off as a loss as i don't have the time or resources to try to
get a new mobo installed. So my question is:

Can I take the hard drive out of the desktop and somehow get some connectors
and hook it to my laptop so i can recover the data that was on there? My
laptop is an Compaq Presario with XP Pro. Thanks!

They have what are called external USB drive cases. There are cases for both
PATA and SATA drives.
So if your laptop has a USB port you may be able to access the info.
