Recover from a corrupted registry

G

Guest

I sought an answer to a problem and was provided with this response:

How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from
starting"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=307545

I went to perform this action, but was greeted with this bolded warning:

"Warning Do not use the procedure that is described in this article if your
computer has an OEM-installed operating system."

Since this computer DOES have OEM XP, how should I proceed?

Thank you very much.

Simply answer Original Equipment Manafacturer.

An OEM is a company that builds components that are used
in systems sold by another company called a value-added
reseller or VAR. The practice of a VAR selling products
with components from OEMs is common in the electronics
and computer industry. Typically an OEM will build to
order based on designs of the VAR.

This may be an interest to microsoft, but I don't think
it will help you.
