Can anybody tell me how "recording TV through Vista" works? I mean, after I
buy the tuner do I have to watch it on the computer or burn it to a DVD to
watch it on my TV. Is there a device out there that I can record on through
the computer and then go and plug it into the TV and watch it that way?
(without wasting DVD's)

You can/could do both as far as viewing is concerned.First,"the tuner" or tv
video card,a simple inexpensive brand is all you need, ati sells one with RCA
jacks for about 50.00.Most,connect the card thru a vcr with RCA-out
jacks,conn-
ected to RCA-in on the pc,although s-video cable will be ok.With all of the
cards,
only install thier drivers from the cd.As far as capture goes, download
windows
encoder 9 series & capture audio/video.Get the utilities also,WMCAP easily
lets
you view the tv.The encoder will record, record to new folder, once complete,
move folder to dvd if wanted. You might also, run it back thru encoder
"convert".
Also, encoder help is in xp newsgroups.

Vista questions are best asked in a Vista newsgroup. Probably for your
issue it would be the music_pictures_video newsgroup.
