Recording Control..Microphone muted and will not unmute

Hello I am have trouble with the microphone mute button...
I try to unmute it but to no avail...It just stays muted
When I switch to playback controls the microphone is unmuted. But I still
cannot record anything because in the recording controls it is muted but will
not unmute... Anyone can help me out there?

go to device manger by going to start>run>type devmgmt.msc and check if audio driver is installed properly..and uninstalled and reinstalled the sound driver ..

and also check in services.msc whether audio service is enabled or not..if disable right click it go to properties and enable it and check it ..

or try this patch to restore sound open it and then run it
