Recording Cassette Tapes to hard drive

Guest

I wish to record my cassette collection to my hard drive
and then on to CD.

Can I use Sound Recorder and XP to do this or do I need
another programme?

It's true you can use Music Match Jukebox as directed in the previous post
and I have done it. But...

I think you should look for Audio Cleaning lab from Magix. You can remove
the tape hiss and work with the audio file in ways MMJB doesn't allow.

I like MMJB enough to have paid to upgrade to Plus. I use ACL to split a
cassette or LP into tracks and remove the noise. Then I use MMJB (Plus) to
convert the wav files to mp3PRO. I've done hundreds, and some sound
exceptionally good. Some sound awful, but I sure didn't want to buy
replacement CDs for the best audio when I had so many cassettes and LPs
sitting in the attic.

The downside is typing in tags. IF the edit screen in MMJB didn't require a
mouse to go from side to side it would be way faster.

.
You Can use a CD Burning program from roxio or Nero I
think. Make sure tour sound card has a line in jack. And
make sure it is enabled that's the best way to do it.
