Hi Guys,

Ive been having enormous problems with my Gigabyte GA-7VT600PL
motherboard with VIA KT600 chipset and SATA drive, in that everytime I
render videos the whole system freezes and monitor goes into standby.

Ive completely narrowed it down to the Motherboard - dont ask me how -
buts taken a week of intensive test bedding to do so!!!!

So, my question is what motherboard are people using here that works
100% stable with a AMD XP3200+ Processor, 9800pro all-in-wonder gfx
card, along with a SATA hard drive - cos Id be really interested to know.

Thanks

I used to run a ASUS A7N8X- Deluxe. Other recommendations are the DFI
Lanparty board and the ABIT NF7-S

I'm happy with my Asus A7N8X deluxe. Runs great and very stable.

Are we in the clear with the bad capacitors thing yet?
I've returned 3 ASUS mobos to the dealer with that
problem, and then those warantee repairs went down
as well. I just gave up and wrote them off. No more
ASUS until I know we are past the capacitor mess.
I haven't seen any Gigabyte boards blow up like that,
but I've heard about a few. Also, I know that VIA
chipset is putrid ... but getting better. I've got a lab
full of the same Gigabyte boards .. one is fast, the next
is slow ???????????? That too is weird. The only
computers that I have ever seen that were reliable
and quick, have been the high end HP desktops.
They seem to know how to integrate a package and
make it run. I have about 40 HP Kayaks, and they
are great in my labs. I run them dead even in all the apps
with any P4s that are so-called 3x faster. Ain't so!
If HP builds a game computer, that would be a good
system to investigate, and go and do likewise.

Isn't it time for the OP to just sell his cpu and go Athlon64 ? a 3200+
athlon64 is much faster than a 3200+ XP.

This is the first I've heard of the "bad capacitors thing". I have had a
number of ASUS boards and have been heppy with all of them. Never had such
a problem. Check the Asus newsgroup if you are wondering about persistent
problems with any of the models. I'm not saying that this is you, but most
people who run into problems with mobos just don't install them correctly
and end up shorting them out against the case.
