recently created new folders and now outlook cannot find the folde

I added a few new personal folders and transferred a number of emails from my
inbox to the new folders. After exiting Outlook and then signing back in
again, I am now getting the error "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft
Outlook could not access the specified folder location." It is only for a
couple of folders I recently created.

That's the problem - I don't know where they are! The address at the top was
"Outlook:..." and then a whole bunch of numbers and letters. I was trying to
open them from the Outlook Shortcuts task bar. I can't find the folders in
my Outlook data file. I have 3 data files that I found (two named Outlook
and one named BackUp) and I opened all of them in Outlook and didn't see the
folders there. I tried to do Outlook.exe /resetoutlookbar and now the new
folders are totally gone - they're not even in the Outlook bar anymore. I
had a lot of emails in them - is there any way to find them? Any help is
much appreciated - thank you!

Recently these are under the path,

c:\Documents and Settings \ <username> \ Local settings \ Application data \
Microsoft \ Outlook

Note that the Local settings folder is a hidden folder and you need to
unhide folders from the Folder options to browse to these.

Or else search your entire computer with Search hidden filese options
selected from the Advanced options. Make sure you search for *.pst.

That didn't seem to work. I have 5 .pst files on my computer. I opened all
of them using Outlook: File -> Open -> Outlook Data file. But the folders
I'm missing aren't in the folder list of any of the data files I opened. Is
there anywhere else they could be? Any other type of file they could be. I
do have one other file under C:\Documents and Settings\Katie Carlino\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook - it's called extend and it's a
..dat file. Could that mean something? Finally, these are files that I got
off of my Comcast mail. Does that matter?

Outlook will store data in pst-files only; dat-files are used for something
else (usually settings).

File-> Data File Management will show which pst-files are currently
connected to Outlook. If Outlook gives you an error on startup about a
missing pst-file it one of the pst-files referenced there. Finding the
location should be easy then. If the pst-file is not there you somehow
managed to delete it and needs to be restored from backup.

Thanks for your help! I'm not getting any errors on start up, I just can't
seem to find these folders that I created, or any of the emails in them.
What if I didn't manually back it up (because I didn't) - is there an
automatic back-up and if so, can you give me more information on how to
restore?
