Recent Patches From Microsoft

I downloaded and installed the patches, no problems. I restarted. No problem
with the first re-boot. I shut down my computer, went to work, came home and
turned it on. First thing I see after the splash screen is "cannot load use"
or a similar message and it said that my desktop/user (whatever) could not be
loaded due to a corruption of files somewhere in the user. I am having
serious problems with my computer ever since the 3 patches. My info is still
on my computer but it won't load my user name or desktop and most of the
files are now read only? What the hell did the patches do??? Is this
insurance that we have to get Vista? I know of several other people that have
WinXP and they have the problem too! Is there a fix on the way? Is there
anything that I can do to remedy this problem? I already uninstalled the
patches and restarted with no luck. HELP!!!

As you mention winxp, perhaps you ought to post to a winxp and or update
group, and mention the actual KB of the patches that apparently caused this
problem

The information you provided is too vague for anyone to know. Post the
actual text of any error messages you receive.

Check Event Viewer for errors. When you view the logged events in Event
Viewer (double-click them in the right-hand pane) in the upper right corner,
third button down is a copy to clipboard, then you can paste in the body of
a reply message.

Also check Device Manager for error codes and or non-starting devices.

Any clues as to what may be wrong or what remedies there are for this? I
have 1024MB of RAM, 256 MB GFX, Pentium 4 3.0E. Resources should be ok unless
there is some hidden problem I don't know about. Please help if you can.
