Receiving timely messages

People send/reply to my messages in a timely manner. However, I have not
been receiving their emails in my inbox until hours (sometimes up to 12 hrs!)
after they have been sent. How can I adjust my Outlook settings so that I
receive immediate messages? I have a POP3 Account, and have adjusted the
settings to look for mail every 10 minutes, and also anytime I send.

not all, but everything I received yesterday was delayed. i have a new
computer, and previously had been running outlook express on win98 on an old
pc -- never had any of those problems before.

Is all mail coming in delayed still? Has the performance improved? Have you
checked with your ISP to see if they have any issues with their server?

Email is never guaranteed to be instant but normally it is delivered fairly
quickly. There can be issues however and I've seen delivery delays happen.
It's not always something you can control since it commonly happens somewhere
between the sender and receiver. If the problem is occasional, I wouldn't
worry about it. If it's consistent, then definitely be concerned.
