We have 2 users that are receive text in the email rather than an attachment
when the receive an email from a unix box. If that message is forwarded to
some one else, they receive an attachment. When the second user forwards it
back to the original receipent, it comes back as an attachment. I know it
must be some setting that needs to be tweaked. Any ideas?

Experimenting with a non-Windows mail system and Outlook, if Outlook sees
the UUENCODE "begin", it will automatically assume it's an attachment, even
if it's not separated from the body of the message with the normal MIME
headers. I'd say something about the message format as it comes from the
Unix machine isn't quite what Outlook expects.

How do you "know" this? Have you read it? Did someone tell you? Are you
clairvoyant?

Brian,

When I added my email address to the list of receipents, I receive the email
withan attachment. When the 2 other receipents look at the email using
terminal services, they receive an attachment, but it comes thru as text in
the body of the message when they download it to their laptops. This just
started happening about two weeks ago - they have been receiving this email
daily for about a year.

Thanks for trying to help - any ideas?

So, they use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to another machine and
open Outlook on that machine? How, then, do they "download it to their
laptops"?

They are able to look at it both ways. Before they downloaded it, they
connected to using terminal services and looked at it. It appeared as an
attachment. When it was downloaded, that is when the problem occurs.

What type of account is being used on the laptop?

Brian,

I am not sure what you mean by type of account on the laptop?

Thanks for your help!
