I am getting the same problem using Outlook 2007, I have used the command
line and that does get me in but the same thing happens again when I try to
open a mail folder or open an email.

This has just started to happen to me but after looking at the internet it
would appear that it has been around for sometime with other users. I have
run scanpst.exe which tells me that errors were found and repaired, but as
soon as Outlook opens again the same problem occurs.

Very annoying.... am i better off re-installing Office ?

I should have added that when Outlook will not open I get an option to open
it in Safe Mode which i do and it works... alowing me to at least get emails
in and out - but I don't consider this a viable long term solution.

This means you have an add-in that's not working correctly. Disable all of
the add-ins and re-enable them one at a time until you find the culprit.

Thanks for the suggestion Brian, I take it that you are referring to the
add-ons in Explorer Properties... if so I have disabled them all and it makes
not one jot of a difference to outlook opening...

I mean the add-ins in Outlook's Trust Center.

My apologies... never looked in there before... however I have now disabled
all in there as well with the same result !

If safe mode allows Outlook to work correctly, then you must have some add-in
interfering. Since I can't see your PC, I can't tell whether or not you've
disabled them all in Trust Center. I can only recommend that you recheck you
disabled them all in Trust Center, keeping in mind there are two collections
of add-ins there, the COM add-ins and the others (don't remember their
collection name).

OK, I've gone back to the Trust Center and there are no add-ins enabled or
active. I opened Outlook again and got the same message - it offers me the
opportunity to open it in safe mode - if i say no it opens "normally" but as
soon as I try to send a test email it stopes working again and wants to send
an error report to MS.

I'm just getting fed up with it now and will revert to my initial plan which
is to uninstall and re-install Office - do you concur ?

No because that won't fix anything.
