When I leave the computer for a while and it drops into sleep mode, the
Outlook send receive stops working. I must reboot to get it to work again.
Please help.

Does "sleep" mode mean your host went into Standby power mode or into
Hibernate power mode? Hibernate power mode means to save the current
contents of memory into a file and power down the host. Since the host
is powered down, there are no applications running. If you want to have
Outlook active (loaded into memory AND running) then you need to put
your host into Standby power mode.

However, some NICs (network interface cards/controllers) become disabled
in any low-power mode. In Device Management (devmgmt.msc), check the
Power Management tab for your network controller interface. Disable the
option to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

Unless you have a need to remotely power up your host (which then
anyone's traffic to your host would also perform a power up), under the
Advanced tab, disable the "WakeOnLan from PowerOff" (or whatever wakeup
events are available). Otherwise, someone sending traffic to your host
will end up powering it on (if it was low-power mode, like hibernate).
