Receiving e-mails when opening Outlook

how can I configure Outlook so that it receives e-mail as soon as I open
Outlook?
 
What version of Outlook are you using? I'm asking since OL2003 seems to do
just what you're asking by default
 
I've got OL2003 so that's why I can't understand why it's not doing it. Any
suggestions? thanks for your help
 
Just to be sure, we're talking about standard Internet POP3 mail accounts,
correct?
 
Yes-no problem getting my e-mails when i hit the send/receive button, it just
doesn't get them when I open Outlook. Thanks again for your help

Click Tools>Options>Mail Setup>Send/Receive, define a send/receive interval
(no less that ten minutes is considered best practice) and Outlook will
perform a send/receive on startup.
 
Thanks-I changed it from 5 to 10 minutes and it seems to have sorted out the
problem!
