receiving e-mail

I am unable to do anything on my computer while receiving my e-mail and until
all the spam received has been sent to my deleted items folder. I'm using
Outlook 2002 on XP home edition from Dell. It doesn't make sense that I'm
frozen out of my computer for as much 1/2 an hour or longer depending the
number of e-mails.

DL,
I'm unable to close or minimize OL and go to IE or any of my work files. As
an example of e-mails received. I just received 503(two days worth) of which
only 23 were legimate and half of those were spam. All the rest were sent to
my deleted folder; but I couldn't do anything until the filters cleared them
from my in box and put them in my deleted folder.

Perhaps you should consider an ISP/email provider that has spam filters,
which you can modify, and web access so you can examine from time to time
their spam folder and delete or allow access for specific msgs.
Or use something like Mailwasher, that allows you to filter mail prior to
download
Dont however use the bounce feature, assuming its still available.
