PC specs are as follows:
Proc: AMD 64 3200+ Venice
MOBO:Chaintech VNF4 Ultra
Video: BFG 6800GT
RAM: Corsair Value Select 2x512 Duel Channel
HDD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint 120gb
OS: Windows XP Prof. SP 2

Problem:
Tuesday, after installing a PC game called F.E.A.R. I started to randomly
receive this error and the system would reboot. I researched and found that
it could be a driver hardware conflict.

I removed and tested the RAM updated all drivers but problem persists. I
followed MS's directions regarding the pagefile solution but no luck. I
then booted in safe mode and did NOT receive the error.

The game requires Direct X 9c to be loaded. After uninstalling the game,
the error still occurred. So, I used system restore to revert back to before
the direct x 9c and game were installed and my system is now stable.

Anyone know of a solution or why it appears direct x 9c is causing the
problem?

Thank you for your prompt reply and the link. When I first ran into this
issue, I used that site to troubleshoot the problem. I followed the pagefile
and ram solutions provide but it did not resolve the problem. In addition,
after restoring back to pre-direct x 9c my system is stable, I feel it is a
direct x 9c issue.

Is that a fair theory? The system has been runnng fine for months until
this game install.
