Received emails - default zoom upon opening is 47%

Starting a few days ago, when I open the majority of my received emails, the
default zoom setting in the Outlook Read Mail toolbar is 47%. This means I
have to change the zoom to 100% to be able to read the message. How do I fix
this so it defaults to 100% for every message I open?

It doesn't affect emails that I send, nor does it affect all the emails I
receive.

2 Questions:
1) Does this only happen when you open the message? For example, do the
emails look ok when you view your entire inbox?

2) What version of outlook are you using?

I've got Outlook 2003.

My inbox looks okay - all my screens, toolbars etc. are the right size and
everything, it's just that the text in the body of some of the messages I
receive are displaying at 47% zoom.

Ok, but does the text look ok when you preview the email in your inbox . . .
and then when you actually double click on an email, then the zoom changes?

Do you have Word 2003 set as the default reading application for Outlook?
You can check under Tools > Options > Mail Format tab. If Word is set as
the default reading application, you can either uncheck this box or open
Word and make sure the default zoom size is set at 100%.
