Rebuilding an DC/AD machine (Windows 2003)

I have an Forest that contains three DC's. I lost one of my DC because of a
hard drive failuer and bad power supply. I have rebuilt the machine with new
hardware and now I want to place it back in the forest.

My problem is that this was the first machine in my forest and it contained
all of the 'FSMO' roles. However, I think I moved the Master Catalog to my
Exchange server. All others roles where on the machine that I lost. I still
have to other DC running in the forest but they have no AD roles assigned to
them except my exchange server. And I still no sure about that.

Can any one provide with any suggestions about how to clean up my AD forest
and re-add the rebuilt DC. Can anyone point me to any documentation that
would help or post some instructurtions here.

Any references on the net would be great.

I'd like to resovle this ASAP I've been down for two weeks.

Thanks

Was this the only DC within its domain? (Remember that a forest can contain
multiple domains.) If so, you'll need to restore from backup. If all of
your DCs are in a single domain, do the following before re-introducing the
failed DC:

[1] Seize all the FSMO roles to another DC.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;255504

(This assumes that you have re-installed the OS on the re-built DC. This is
necessary if you seize the Schema Master and RID Master to another DC.)

[2] Perform a metadata cleanup to remove references to the old DC.

[3] Be sure that your DNS records have updated successfully. If you're not
using Dynamic DNS, you'll need to update your records manually.

Thank you so much for your help. I do have another question. Its been some
time since I set this system up. How do I display the current role of a
server. As I said before one of my server other server does have a role.
however, I don't remember what role it has. I'm trying to get a complete
picture before I get started.

Thanks
