My Windows 2000 Professional machine is rebooting every
time I try to login to the desktop or to the network. Can
anyone tell me what may be going on? Thanks much!

Abe,

If you are able to, left click "my computer" then
properties>advanced>startup and recovery. Once there, uncheck
"automatically reboot". If you can do this, the next time you encounter the
error that is causing your reboot, you should get a blue screen with the
error described. Then take it from there.

You may need to use safe mode (F8 at startup) to accomplish this.
