My system was running just fine but I had a new version of System Mech 7.0 to
install.
So I uninstalled System Mech 6.0, rebooted, installed the 7.0 version, no
problems noted with the uninstall nor the new install.
I then rebooted again and now XP will not boot properly.
At times it will get to an error 'black' screen mentioning to run from CD
and do a repair on it.
Sometimes I get the user names but after a minute or two, it reboots and
will go thru this process over and over again.
I even had Norton GoBack installed and went back a day or more in versions
and that does not allow me to run XP.
So what went wrong? How do I fix it?

Why did you *have* to. WinXP does not need any of these "tuning tools".

Perform a clean Windows install and stay away from such crapware.

Can you boot into safe mode? Restart the computer, as the BIOS splash
screen disappears repeatedly tap the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu
appears which includes safe mode. Highlight that and press enter. If it
will login then try uninstalling System Mechanic or if it won't uninstall,
then do a system restore to a point before you installed the new version.

If that doesn't work then do a repair install.

Also Contact System Mechanic Tech support for help. Complain to them.

Thanks. I tried all the above and nothing seems to work, so I think my O/S is
hosed and I will have to re-install.
I'm not totally convinced it was the System Mech that was the cause as this
is the primary PC for my kids and their internet gaming. Maybe one of the web
sites they visit loaded some crap and it is causing problems.
Oh well, I have the XP CD and it does not take too long to recover.
