I am having some strange rebooting on my xp sometimes cant even boot on
startup disk. No error messages. are there programs that can scan my hard
drive and fix off a floppy. I really think this is the problem. When it
keeps trying to boot the hard drive light stys solid no flashing.
Sometimes it will run windows for about 20 min then reboots and won't start
at all cant even get into bios.

It's not really clear what is happening from your description- its a bit
disjointed. And where you say you 'think this is the problem' what are you
referring to and why do think that is the cause?

The last sentence may indicate a heat problem If your computer is a desktop
take the covers off and see if the fans are blocked with dust. Try running
it like that- does it work for longer? Can you see that the fans are
working?

From your description of the symptoms, it sounds like you have hardware
failure. Here are some general hardware troubleshooting steps:

Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out suspected parts
with known-good parts. If you can't do the testing yourself and/or are
uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigStoreUSA).

SORRY. yES THE FANS ARE RUNNING. i TRIED CHANGING THE WINDOWS START UP NOT
TO AUTO RESTART TO SEE IF ANY ERROR MESSAGES SHOW AND NO LUCK
WILL CHECK TO SEE IF TAKING COVER OFF HELPS. I'M ASSUMING HARD DRIVE ISSUE
BECAUSE WHEN I DO A CHECK DISK AT RESTART IT GETS TO STAGE 2 OF 5 AND THEN
RESTARTS.

I'd second that
Sometime ago I updated the bios on my gigabyte m/board
and ever since then I haven't been able to reboot
only hard boots work
