Hi,

I have a random problem with rebooting. It happens every now and then
but not all the time.

I have Vista Ultimate and a ATI x1960 (7.5 drivers) with a ViewSonic 20"
TFT full system details can be found here: http://pcspec.brion.co.uk

When I choose "Restart" the PC will shut down then reboot. I get to the
screen with the cycling green blob but when the screen blanks my monitor
power light goes off and on, off and on... Until I fully power off from
the wall switch this will then allow the PC to load properly. Vista does
continue to load whilst the screen is going off/on as I can hear the
startup sounds.

This PC used to have Windows MCE installed on it and never had this
problem. So this looks like a fault with Vista.

I have the latest MS updates installed.

Is there a fix?

TIA

I had something similar in XP though.
I found the problem to be swollen capacitors on my graphics card.

My problem only started this Tuesday after clean installing Vista, I
have no other problems with graphics that I can detect.

I have rebooted about 4 times this morning (Program installs and
updates) and the problem has not shown it head.

It is random to when it happens.

The usual reply, have you got the latest Vista compatible drives for all
your hardware?

I have loaded the 7.5 driver for the x1950. MY X-fi has the latest from
creativelabs.

Which other drivers should I check? I have updated with MS Update.
