Reboot in safe mode

I am trying to change user ID's on a windows 2000 machine. I rebooted in safe mode and chose just safe and still get the user logon. I cannot figure out a way to logon to this computer or the network It just stopped accepting my ID

Thanks

Win2000 is considered a reasonably secure operating system. If you could
bypass its security by booting in Safe Mode then it would not be secure at
all, would it?

You need to log on as "administrator", using the password you entered when
first loading Windows 2000. Many people use a blank password (which, of
course, is a gross breach of security). You can then go to the Control Panel
/ Users, and reset the password for your everyday account.
