Reason an email that returned read receipt is not in sent folder?

Will you please tell me why I can't find an email that I sent this morning
and received a delivery receipt and read receipt and response to?

You deleted it, then deleted your deleted items?
Your sent items folder is not sorted by sent date?
Try doing a search on your entire mailbox for it.
