Realtec NIC drivers? DON"T UPDATE!!

The last Realtek drivers to come down with Vista Update are defective. There
are many posts from users whose Internet throughput has dropped off to next
to nothing and these drivers are the direct result. My throughput died off
almost completely. I could surf simple web pages but couldn't download a file
from anywhere because they would all time out or take hours to dl a 2 MB
file. I could send my sister an email with 1 MB of photos attached because my
outgoing mail server kept giving me a timeout error. I have a dual-boot
system and throughput was perfectly fine through XP. Only Vista was affected.

Someone here responded to one of my begging for help posts, mentioned
Realtek and suggested I roll my driver back. I remembered accepting a recent
driver update for my onboard Realtek nic and rolled the driver back as
suggested. Everything was back to normal immediately. If you have a Realtek
nic and are experiencing problems that started in the last week or two, I'd
highly suggest you do the same and then "hide" this particular update so that
it won't happen again.

Good luck.

Sincerely,

But those may be generic drivers that are used on many nic cards...

so what did not work for you may work for someone else who had a different
card yet used that driver...

I have seen reltek drivers (realtek is with a K not a C) loaded on various
brands.. it seems they are
generic .. and are used if the nic card
has some particular chip

I doubt that if everyone had a problem MS would release it... on the other
hand.. look at vista :)
