Lisa

I posted this on the music forum and got one suggestion but it didn't work.
Any ideas?

I downloaded Realplayer and now every time I put a CD in to copy it converts
the files to Realplayer. I have my default set as WMP. I removed Realplayer
via add/remove but I cannot get rid of the Realplayer program file even in
safe mode. Is there a way to keep music files from being converted to
Realplayer. Thanks!

Have you looked at the options in Windows Media Player? Look at File Types
and make sure you have the proper ones checked. If you still have a Real
Player item in the Start Menu see if it contains the Uninstall Real Player
option.

Lisa,

I have found Realplayer to be very aggressive also. During set up I did
not want Realplayer to take over my computer music files. So when I was
given choices during set up I deselected everything that I was given a
choice. I needed to install Realplayer because NPR and some other
websites use Realplayer as their only media player.

When I installed Realplayer I found that the program wanted to take
over. As a example in My Music folder in Sample Music Realplayer
substituted their logo where Windows Media Player logos were attached
to files and folders. There were other examples of Realplayers
aggressive behaver.

I ended up uninstalling Realplayer until I read more posting like this
one to find out some reasonable answers.

IMO, Windows Media Player & RealPlayer are two peas in a pod.

Try 'Real Alternative':

It is the RealNetworks' Real-codecs repackaged with the free 'Media
Player Classic', and as far as i can tell, with all of RealNetworks'
invasiveness and data-mining malware excised.

A third pea, QuickTime Player, can be substituted by 'QuickTime
Alternative':
