Really odd problem posted by pc tech

I have a customer with a really odd problem I haven't seen in many years of
fixing pc's. Symptoms are as follows:
---When I Turn Off Computer the word Cancel doesn't show up in the gray
bubble, bubble is there but no text.
---If she tries to do anything with online form filling the boxes in IE are
messed up and she can't type text in the fields. However, Firefox works OK.
---If I try to update Norton AV the update box appears with graphics but
there is no text, including the reply buttons below and all the text in the
updater window. Only graphics are there. If I guess the clicks correctly it
will update successfully.
---I tried to add a password and the change box was really long, something
like 30 or 40 screens. When I scrolled down to the bottom you can't select
in the box to type a password.
---The problem showed itself when she was trying to shut down and go a an
error that logonui.exe caused an error. I replaced the file in windows
folder with file from service pack files and the computer shut down w/out
error but didn't fix everyting else.

I ran Defender, Norton AV, Spybot, AdAware all with current updates.
Windows is up to date. System is a Dell P4 and we reinstalled Windows about
six months ago.

I hope someone has an idea of something to try other than reinstall yet again.

Thanks for taking the time to read this long post.

Has she changed any desktop settings? Try changing to the Windows XP or
Classic theme to reset all the fonts and colors.
