RealAudio & Mp3 as background sound files

I've imported a short realaudio file (.ra) into a web page as a background sound, but it wont play. Also Mp3 files are not recognised, so cant be used. The wav version of the file works fine but is too big. Can anyone help ?
 
check tools/ web settings/ compatibility and make sure it's set for ie/
custom
