Real VNC Compatibility

Roger

I support several machines remotely via VNC. After
Installing the beta version of MS Spyware, the VNC
application did not work. I had a remote user try to
reinstall VNC and message indicated that the application
was already installed. Tried to start VNC and message
indicated that it was already running.

MS Spyware looks good, but if it knocks me out remotely,
its of no use.

Anybody else encounter this problem ?

I know that they are investigating some bugs around VNC, but this particular
issue isn't one I remember seeing--the others have been performance related
while VNC was in use --on the host machine.

Can you specify the version of VNC you have the problem with, and ideally a
URL to pick it up?

Also, which build of Microsoft Antispyware? .501, or .509--see Help, about.

I use TightVNC 1.2.9 all the time and have MS AS 1.0.509 beta installed on
both sides. VNC works fine and it doesn't kick me off or anything. The only
issue I reported in the .appcompat section, was that MS icon duplicates
itself on the client PC that I remote into. But only on the remote side,
never on the control side. If that makes sense. I always get confused on
what people consider the client and server side. It happens on the server
(host) side, and not on the PC using the client (viewer) side.
