ReadyBoost

I have a 1GB USB 2.0 flash drive plugged in and ReadyBoost is using
about 1GB of it - however I can not say that I see any performance
improvement. How would it be possible to measure it?

Good Question...

Choose a program that typically takes a bit of time to load and open.

Next, open and close it several times and then wait a few minutes.

Then open it again and judge whether it is opening more quickly than before.

Also, using RegEdit, find your way to the sub-keys that show the Windows
read/write speed test results:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SOFTWARE
Microsoft
Windows NT
CurrentVersion
EMDMgmt

The speed increases are pretty small so its sometimes hard to notice,
especially on a decent PC.

i notice it allot on my laptop. have you set the amount windows can use for ready boost to max?

Great - thanks for all the responses! Unfortunately, I didn't see much
improvement. The laptop itself is a P4 2.8GHz with 768MB of RAM
(shared w. video - down to ~700). Picked up 2 1GB DIMMs... I'm sure
that will do the trick and then do not have to worry about breaking
the memory stick off in the USB port
