So I have a 4gb readyboost device and it says its working however my system
ram when I got to computer properties still says 2gb(that which is on the
motherboard). The problem is the reason I got ReadyBoost in the first place
is becuase I want to run a virtual PC using 2gb of ram and it looks like it
will not let me.

So questions...
1. how do I know for sure I have my Readyboost installed correctly
2. Min. requirement for applications is still your system memmory?

Sorry friend, Readyboost is not designed to extend system memory - it's a
disk caching technique that's supposed to improve the general performance of
your system.

So I'm afraid that it won't help you with virtual systems at all. To run a
virtual PC with 2GB, you'll need to add additional system memory.

Correct. Using ReadyBoost is not the same thing as adding system RAM.
It improves performance on some machines (probably not much on
yours--it's mostly useful on machines with less than 2GB), but doesn't
increase RAM.

That's correct. If you want more RAM, that's what you need to buy.

Even though by standard those with 2gb would not see any improvements might
we see improvement in our case becuase we are running a virtual PC on the
system as well?

Given that our VPC when running is taking up more then 1gb of our ram wouldnt
the Readyboost help when we are in our host which would be running around 512
in that case.

(clarified question from my previous re-post)

I can't answer that, since I haven't been in your circumstances
myself. You're in a much better position to answer than I am. *Do* you
see an improvement?
