I have Outlook Express 6 on my PC & want to read a CD with Outlook .pst files.
I do not have Outlook on my PC.
In trying to import the messages, I get a message that says -"Messages
cannot be imported from the MAPI client. An error has occured."

I've looked all over and can't find out how to read these files. I don't
know why this is so hard because these are two different versions of the same
e-mail programs - one with more robust features than the other. What am I
missing here?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tom

These aren't different versions of the same email client. Outlook Express is
part of Internet Explorer. Microsoft Outlook is part of Microsoft Office. The
only similarity is in the name.

You need to have Outlook on the PC with Outlook Express in order to make the
changeover, since only Outlook can read a PST file.

Copy the pst file from the CD to your HDD, and remove the read-only
attribute. (Right Click, Properties, and down at the bottom, Attributes).
Then open Outlook, go to File-Open-Outlook Data File and navigate to where
you copied the pst file to. Then open OE, and go to File-Import and follow
the instructions. After he import is done, you can delete the pst file (after
closing Outlook) and use OE!
