reading old excel files

I have an XP windows system. The companies that I work
with use Office and Excel 97. I can not open and read
and modify the old files. Do I have to update the Excel
97 software and will I be able to open and read the old
files?

No, you should have no problems opening the files.......IF YOU HAVE MS OFFICE OR
EXCEL INSTALLED

What happens on your PC?. What MS Office version are you using (Excel
2003 can open Excel 97 files without a problem)
