"read only"

I'm trying to open and change a database, and get a message "The database
____ is read-only. You won't be able to save changes made to data or object
definitions in this database". I never made it "read only". How do I fix
it, please>

Has this database been copied from a CDROM?, because if so, it has set the
read-only attribute on the file,

right-mouse click on the file, goto properties and make sure the read-only
checkbox is NOT checked.

Thanks for getting back to me. No, it wasn't copied from a CDROM. I did try
right-clicking on the file, but the read-only checkbox is greyed out, with no
checks.

I would appreciate further suggestions.

What version of Access was the database written in, and what version of
Access are you running?
