"Read Only" files

When I backup an Access file to a CD, it converts it to a "Read Only" file. I
cannot unlock the file to use it on my other computer. I have went to
"Properties" and unchecked the read only but it does not help. What do I need
to do to make this feature useful?

Copying to CD sets the file(s) to read-only (you know that).

When you copy the file back onto (another) PC, are you saying you cannot
uncheck the property of the file on the PC (not the one on the CD)?
