read only default

What default setting do I change so when I save a copy of my Access97
database it will not be "read only" when I open it?

I thought checking "shared" on the options advance tab would solve the
situation but it did not.

How are you making the copy? Does the original have any security
features active? Have you tried using the Window's copy tools (drag and
drop)?

I drag and drop the file containing my Access db in my cd burner
program.

Once you have a read only copy is there anyway to open it for editing?

You can't edit any file on a CD, it is the nature of a CD. You can copy
the file back to a hard drive and then uncheck read only if needed in the
file properties.
